Dijla is an ideal base from which to explore the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside. The nearest large town is Chateau D'Oex, a 20 minute drive away and famous for its annual balloon festival. Forty minutes In the opposite direction, its possible to drive to the lakeside towns of Aigle, Villeneuve, Montreux and Vevey surrounded by lakeside vineyards. Here one can catch a paddle steamer across the lake to St-Gingolph or the famous French town of Evian, known worldwide for its bottled water.
