Chalet Dijla in summer

The south facing balcony overlooks the valley and provides a good space for sunbathing or eating out under a large parasol. Also a great place for summer evening barbecues. This time of year the slopes are dotted with cows grazing on the succulent grass, their bells tinkling in the far distance. The area provides excellent scope for hill walking and opportunities for summer activities like horse riding, mountain biking and swimming. The local 50 metre outdoor pool in Chateau D'Oex, a 20 minute drive away, has newly refurbished showers and changing rooms which has bought this old but treasured local asset up to date. There are also opportunities for paragliding, windsurfing and white water rafting, not quite the raging torrents of British Columbia, but great fun. Afterwards an alfresco lunch on the terrace under the parasol.
